revamp and reconstruction'KfW' development bank, branch kitchenettes and espresso bars, Bonn

Architecture

the project

In the corporate philosophy of the KfW, tea kitchens are important communication points for the exchange of information between employees. To meet the demands of a contemporary design, the previous tea kitchens are modernized and converted into espresso bars. Accordingly, the aging sanitary facilities are being modernized.

The 'espresso bars' are each arranged at the intersection of two corridors. The existing document lifts and storerooms will be canceled for this purpose. The new, open to the hallway area is marked by an ellipsoid bar table.

On the ground floor, the foyer and the tea kitchen are connected by a large-format glass door, so that the room can be experienced from the foyer and invites you to communicate. Cabinets and bar tables are made of high-gloss plastic, the worktops are made of a white-gloss artificial stone. The restrained design approach is dispensed with visible handles. The upper cabinets are equipped with sliding glass doors.
